DA SWAGGER MASTER

Kazeem Balogun popularly known by his stage name KAZ, A.K.A DA SWAGGER MASTER, is the latest and hottest Afro music sensation taking the Nigerian music scene by storm. He was born in London, England in July 1988, however lived the majority of his child hood period in Lagos, Nigeria, where he completed his primary and secondary education. Now finally back to the United Kingdom and currently in the university studying his degree programme and at the same time performing his musical works at numerous successful music related events. Kaz was raised in a place called Ikeja, which can be located in Lagos, Nigeria most of his early days. He lived with his grandmother with four of his aunties who have now relocated to the United States alongside with his brothers and sisters. His grandmother especially has been an essential and memorable part of his life while growing up. Kaz spent most of his child hood days with his grandmother helping out in her shop back in those days and going to church with her every Sundays. However as a man living in Ikeja it is very essential that you have to be tough and street smart, Kaz was loved by the street thugs of Ikeja due to his natural street intelligence and besides that he’s first elder brother who passed away in 1996 had developed a huge street credibility and was recognised and respected amongst the areas of Ikeja and outside. Going through tragic experiences such as losing his first elder brother at the tender age of ten alongside his grandfather at a very younger age shaped up Kaz perspective on the angle at which he viewed life in general, He instantly realized that at the twinkle of an eye anything can happen and no one is promised tomorrow so anything worth doing is worth doing now. That was the verge that had him focused and driven towards his passion to be a music legend. However Kaz didn’t wanted to be another statistic of a drop out or someone who didn’t go that extra length of completing his education. He sincerely believes in the saying “Anything worth doing is worth completing and always finish strong” After the completion of his secondary education in 2004 at Nigeria, Kaz flew back into the United Kingdom to pursue his higher education and to put into development his musical abilities. Kaz would be in the recording studios till late hours participating and helping out on other musical projects this significantly built up his self confidence. Later on he progressed into attending several vocal training and music production courses in the United Kingdom and was awarded countless awards for his true musical ability. To further more Kaz vocal trainer noticed the drastic fast pace of improvement in his musical and vocal ability and straight away started putting Kaz to perform at open mic sessions where he would freestyle and dominate and control the stage with a live band. Later in the year 2006 Kaz received several invitations to come and perform at popular gigs such as the famous Rise against racism festival where he greased the main stage as an open act for a popular American hip hop artist “COMMON” and UK’s very own “SWAY”. Another was the hugely recognised Peace Week Concert where Kaz was spotted again delivering another outstanding performance, others were Urban youth jam and Soul jam…just to name a few. Sir Ken Livingstone the mayor of London who attended the Rise against racism festival in 2006 was very surprised to see Kaz an unsigned act deliver a spontaneous performance up to the level of an act signed to a major label and even better than most signed acts. Immediately Kaz got off the stage after is wonderful performance Sir Ken Livingstone immediately gave him handshake and complemented him for delivering such a brilliant performance and several pictures were taken. This then led Kaz earning his first interview at the festival with London’s KISS FM and CHOICE FM. After years and continuous consistency of hard work of participating on the musical projects of others and performing as an original member of his formal group called “STARLINE” Kaz decided to focus on his solo path and fully focus on his aim which is taking the Nigerian music scene by storm and making the western masses pay respect to Nigerian music globally. After the humble and diligent hard work years, Kaz consistently worked towards perfecting his repertoire and style and decided to take it to a level Nigeria hasn’t seen before, in 2009 he confidently released his brand new promo track which is simply titled “SWAGGER” This promo track officially earned and crowned Kaz as DA SWAGGER MASTER. His promo track “SWAGGER” is currently invading radio stations in the United Kingdom, The popular “Flo voice of Africa radio station 94.4FM” is currently receiving massive request to play the track and it’s currently being played by Dj’s at several clubs. Kaz most recent performance of the track was at the University of Hull, Kaz was again spotted delivering more than an industry standard performance. The performance had Kaz spoken about throughout the night due to yet another spectacular performance he delivered. The President of Hull Nigerian students said that “Kaz was the best performer of the night” he has been compared to outstanding Nigerian artist such as Tuface idibia, D’banj and Timaya just to name a few…. To furthermore It has been said by many that the sky is just the starting point for this music legend in the making and there is no doubt, he will be a music guru when he reach his prime. Kaz is currently in and out of the recording studios working effortlessly on his passion to be a music mogul and at the same time in the university in United Kingdom studying his degree programme, making sure that he’s not just a music Icon but a positive role model to his fans, friends and families. He aims to be the reason why the western masses should respect and show major appreciation to Nigerian music globally and lastly not to look at the country’s native dialect as a barrier but to open up their eyes to see the glorious potentials the country has in possession.
