Good People, what can I do?

I was (or am I still?) dating a girl who is 4 months older than I am. I knew her age from the outset but she was so much in love that she would not be bothered about mine. We have dated for a year before trouble started. I told her my age, at first she didn't believe it but she later realized I was saying the truth. We separated for five days, because I said I wanted her to think about it if she would still like to continue. When I went back to meet her, she said she has forgiven me for not telling her my age at first. Later she said she was so devastated then that she went out with another guy to take her mind off her depression, but that nobody could amount to the love we shared together.
The problem now is she has asked me to give her some time to disentangle herself from the other guy. Do you think it is wise of me to wait? I may as well add that she really loved and still loves me - it shows. In fact, my mum keeps asking after her.
