Looking for Mr. Right? It's time to think beyond the bar or club. For starters, you'll find that people tend to show their true selves more when they're not in pick-up mode, surrounded by their pals.
The grocery store. Everyone needs to eat, so inevitably, your future partner-to-be will end up at a grocery store at one time or another. Generally, we don't put on our best outfits to go grab a loaf of bread, but next time you hit the store, make sure you're feeling confident and ready to chat.
The dog run. Assuming you have a dog, but if you do, you're in luck. Dog people stick together and they frequent the same haunts. Plus, while your pooches are running around, you'll have lots of time to talk and get to know each other. If someone catches your eye, strike up a conversation by asking him what breed and how old his dog is. Dog people love talking about their dogs, so it's the perfect ice-breaker.
The gym. The gym is a great place to meet someone if you're an exercise buff, because you already know he's health-conscious. After all, if a guy is taking time out of his day to work on his fitness, you know it's a priority for him. (And if you're there, it is for you, too.) So automatically, you have something in common. If you see a cute on a machine at the gym, walk up to him and ask if you can alternate sets.
Community activities. Festivals and street fairs are great places to mingle. These gatherings usually attract a crowd filled with lots of different types of people, so the odds are great that you might meet someone. Looking for a more long-term activity? Sign up for dance or art classes, or do some volunteer work. Choose the activity or hobby that excites you the most. The best thing you can do when looking for a partner is to go do things that you already like to do. If a potential partner is there too, you'll know you at least share an interest.
The airport. Airports are filled with people from all over the place who have really interesting stories. Everyone in an airport is either coming from somewhere or going somewhere, so it's easy to strike up a conversation with someone. If you spot an intriguing guy, walk over and ask if he's "coming or going." Being curious about his trip will lead to, at the very least, an interesting conversation.
