Murdered 6 Years Old Boy, Ikpomwosa (Video Interview with caretaker)

An ITV London Tonight exclusive has tracked down a woman in Nigeria who says she knows the identity of 'Adam', the boy whose torso was pulled from the River Thames on September 21 2001.

Police who recovered the torso of the child, which had been decapitated and dismembered, had already linked him to Nigeria through forensic work.

A substance in his body was identified as the highly toxic calebar bean, which police think may have been used to subdue him before his throat was cut.

ITV London Tonight have interviewed a Nigerian woman, Joyce Osiagede, earlier this month who said the she cared for 'Adam' as he was dubbed by police, and that his real name was Ikpomwosa.

In the programme she said she was first questioned by police in Glasgow in 2002 after they connected her to the case, before she was deported.

Joyce said that while living in Germany in 2001 she looked after Adam as a favour to a friend but then gave him to a man she called Bawa.

"I now travelled with my two children to Britain to seek refuge there. So, after that, when I get to Britain I phone Bawa and say where is Ikpomwosa? He said, 'He's dead'."

When asked if she had anything to do with the killing, she replied: ''No. I'm a mother, I have children. I can't kill somebody's child."

Asked if she knew who killed him, she said: "Yes ... No. I don't know the group of people. They used him for a ritual in the water. I gave Ikpomwosa to Bawa. Listen carefully please. I gave Ikpomwosa to Bawa and when I go to Scotland, Britain, he said Ikpomwosa is dead."
