Meter Thief Begs Police, Don’t Tell My Wife

A suspected thief, Theophilus Ifekandu, has confessed to the police that despite the fact that he uses the money he makes from sale of stolen Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN meters to take care of his family, his wife does not know that he is a thief and pleaded with the police not to involve his wife in the matter.

He explained that his wife only know him as a businessman and whenever he goes out, he tells her that he was going to hustle.

He pleaded that involving his wife in this matter will cause her great pains and shame and begged to settle the matter without the knowledge of his wife.

The 41-year old Theophilus was caught at Isheri-Oshun, a suburb of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, while allegedly stealing PHCN meters.

He pretended that he was a staff of PHCN and had come to take back the metres of some of the residents who were owing electricity bill.

He had already removed two meters and was about taking them away when luck ran out on him.  The residents asked him to show them his ID card but he had none.

The police were immediately contacted.  The cops arrived the scene almost as he was about to be mobbed and took him to the station.

At the station, he confessed that he was not a PHCN staff as he had earlier claimed.  He told the police that he was dismissed from PHCN in 2008 and he decided to use his experience to make money.

When P.M.NEWS visited the police station, he was still in the cell and efforts to speak with the DPO proved abortive as he was said to have gone to the Police Command Headquarters.

A source at the station confirmed the incident and explained that the police will soon charge Theophilus to court immediately the investigation was concluded.

If u claim u love your wife that much, why did u decide to keep the secret of how u make ur money away from her. At least she should have helped you, or give you reasons why shld put a stop to that greedy and unreliable business of yours. Now see where it has landed u..
