Guys what do you think about the crase for acquiring paper qualification just to eventually do nothing with them.. I think a lot of people especially in 9ja, just acquire these qualificaton to massage their egos not to help them impart their soceities. The hype about paper qualification is not worth it. afterall, the aim of education should be action. what do you think?

I suppose over 70%, if not 90%, of people on this site are Nigerians. so i had that in mind when i was writing the post. and i specifically said "especially in 9ja", which means its not only in 9ja..
but ofcos, from the way the country is, it is obvious that a higher percentage of people that acquire academic education are not using it for anything but get a silly job and get paid meagre salaries..
In a country where a student who studied Medicine, Engineering and other Science related subjects work in Financial institutions like banks etc and professor dont profess nothing but strike actions. Lecturers do no research..
need i say more..

First off, that's a problem in any country. However the only reason why people are subjected to getting different jobs even after studying in scientific fields is because we lack proper health care facilities in Nigeria. However, that doesn't happen often. No one goes through medical school and settles for banker. Yes our educational system needs work. The teachers should be screened better to ensure that they are qualified to teach others. They should be paid better so that they focus on getting the job done. It is however no reason to advice Nigerians to stay out of school. That will only dumb down our society even more. The issue should be addressed by our government, and we need a revolution to get a better government as well. No need to b*tch about Nigerians, just do what you can do in your community to make the country better.

@hiddenpearl i feel your optimism about Nigeria. i am not of the idea that people should drop out of school, but instead focus more on the values of education rather than the certificate. And you saying, noone goes through Medical school and settles for banker, please dont say what you don't know nothing about..cos i have seen more than two cases. and don't you think your opinion will be more respected if you dont use an abusive word like "b*tching"?

Fine, I'll alter the curse word, the bottom line is instead of everybody "complaining" "griping" or "whining" about how horrible everything in Nigeria is, people should start doing something about it. I'm all about more action and less talk... unless it's helpful talk that will uplift. Can't stand whiners... it's a waste of everyone's time.
Yes, I do agree with you that more stress should be placed on the actual education process than just granting degrees. The educational sector of Nigeria needs a major face-lift. I do also know that while circumstances might force a medical doctor to go into other fields, the chances of that occurring are quite slim - like you said you've seen two cases. Two, three, four, or five cases of that happening doesn't speak for the tens of thousands of people who are graduated from the medical field.
My bottom line is, we are the new generation of Nigerians; so either we offer up solutions to our current predicament or sit about and wait for a defected government to "do something about it."

As a Nigeria I understand something abt us when talking abt education and certificates…
Lot of things are wrong not only education lot of people in dis country try to send dem last coins to make sure u get in to skool lot do job to make sure education is part of dem life but wht happen after finish d skool nothing to show for it lot of graduate are walking on d street in d name of looking for Job…D old men and women in d ministries are nt ready to leave d seat how did u expect d new one to get into d post. Imagine I am a banker and I have a son dat study agriculture just dat am in d right post and I have so much power In my company am going to cal my Son to join me in the company wht did agriculture have to do with banking…Lot of things are to be done in dis country lot of people get certificate in d name of getting it not to make use of it to get Job …

"To make a better nigerias we all have a part to take...D Question now is are u doing ur part???"

Dear broz/siz...Egoism & altruism are the bane of our wahala as nigerians...putting d cart b4 d horse is a virtue in our tradition...it's almost abnormal 4 we nija 2 do tins 4 selfless/genuine reasons.it's not perculiar 2 anybody, group or age,it's a societal tin.

The word egoism and altruism are opposite of each other. i think u were trying to use egoism because altruism is good for Nigerians. Anyway what i will just say is that if the foundation be destroy what can a righteous man do? If you dont have a Job then create one, that is why we have all these problems in Nigeria. some jobs created were created from a mediocre mentalities by fellow citizens and leaders while through egoism our leaders has spoilt things. anyway hitting the nails on the edge, we need to do something about it. and it must be a rigid plan. I mean a solid plan that reflects championship result from the prelude..
