On the streets of Lagos, it is not the police who wield power but gangs of fight-hardened young men known as Area Boys. Louis spends time with several outfits, joining them as they patrol their turf, clash with local rivals and keep the peace in a brutal and haphazard fashion.

The main income for the Area Boys is an arbitrary and unofficial form of taxation, extracted from local businesses and commercial drivers. Louis gets to know the rich and glamorous Area Boy leader MC, a former street youth himself, who has now become a friend of the most powerful men in the city. Taken under MC's wing, Louis experiences the top levels of the Area Boys' world from the inside, complete with a tour of MC's grand residence and extensive shoe collection, and ending in a chaotic mini-riot with gunshots, blood and mayhem.

On the side of the law, Louis rides with KAI, the government's Kick Against Indiscipline paramilitary task force, as they storm different city districts. With bulldozers and arrest warrants, KAI use their own strong-arm tactics, and are in their way as feared as the Area Boys.

In Law and Disorder in Lagos, Louis wrestles with life in a world in which the forces of law and the forces of disorder are not always readily distinguishable and nothing is quite what it seems.

Law and Disorder in Lagos : Sun, 10 Oct 2010, 21:00 BBC2

Their last documentary on Lagos wasn't flattering, wonder what they are up to again.

You mean it is a case of ignoring the log in their eyes and wanting to remove the speck in the eyes of others?.......

The last documentary was an eye-opener. And a lot of people who're not Nigerians watched it and were amazed at how we live and how strong a lot of people there are. There were a lot of things I myself didn't know before watching it. They're not there making anything up and they're not there for the purpose of ridiculing the country. Why're some people so afraid? If you don't want people seeing your dirty laundry, then clean it.

Well, we've watched this programme or documentary already on TV here in finland. it's quite sad to watch but what can u do? it's my beloved country and pple gotta to survive one way or another. but come to think of it, what's the problem with BBC they are always covering the bad stuff abt naija and the whole of Africa as if they don't have enough problems or Issues in the U.K themself. God save my country Naija from bad governance. One Luv

Hmn! And so we go again!

Truth be told. They can not love us better than we can love ourselves. They can't. They have themselves to love.

Why are people so scared of Nigeria and Nigerians? Why is that?

America had their Al-Capones and Dillinger and Sammy the Bulls, pretty boy floyds, lucky lucianos, etcetra. And their likes still exist. Aint nobody saying shit. We have never enslaved people. The Arabians enslaved blacks. It is said that the Prophet Mohammed had slaves. The Europeans enslaved blacks. The Queen had slaves.  The evidence persists. Yet Americans can go every where. Brits can go anywhere. Germans can go anywhere.

But, my kinsmen are not allowed to trade online. Like there hasn't been more electronic fraud in America by Americans than in the world by Nigerians. like when naija boys were using generated credit card numbers, the software that was used was not sold or created by the Americans. Like the Chinese aint pirates. Like the Japanese don't hack. like the indians are saints.

Yet this people can transact on the internet. The Indian can stay in India and work for an American. Same with the Chinese and Japanese. Same with the Arabian. But yet, I can not have a papal account cause I am a big bad Nigerian. |I know for a fact that 99 percent of Nigerians have never committed internet fraud. We have not bullied any of our neighbors with all our might. We have not sponsored terrorism. We are good by human standard.

Yet, this Brits and this Americans will castigate Nigeria every chance they get. Like in 'Lost' where it was depicted that Nigeria had child soldiers. The ecko guy was supposedly a child soldier in the movie. Yet, one can say that Nigeria has come a long way since the civil war.

WHAT DO THEY WANT? WHAT DO THEY WANT?

Strife?

I guess it is all good. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Can't blame em, black people worship em. That is what the problem is. When Nigeria realizes that she is responsible for every negroe on the earth and the world, then she will assume her rightful place in the scheme of world politics. I just hope the country isn't broken into bits and pieces by then. The Black race would have lost.
