Cell Phone Guns Discovered. Hitting the 5, 6, 7 and 8 buttons on the phone gun fires four .22-caliber rounds in quick succession.LONDON, Dec.
Calabar — The police in Cross River State have alerted members of the public about the existence and circulation of GSM gun phones in the state.
According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, ASP Etim Dickson, the cell phone is capable of discharging four rounds of 22-calibre ammunition rapidly.
Dickson, who said the police are conducting a search to track down and retrieve the phones from circulation, disclosed that the phone's five to eight digits are used as its trigger.
Consequently, the police command said members of the public should be vigilant and watchful so as not to fall victim of criminals who could use the gun phones to rob or commit other forms of crime.
The police also urged members of the public to cooperate with the police in their stop and search duties, which are done in a bid to track down such lethal weapons.
In another development, the police command has warned members of the public not to give out their Automated Teller Machines (ATM)'s pin code numbers to any person or group to avoid being duped by fraudsters who have been sending several forms of electronic messages, demanding pin code numbers from unsuspecting members of the public.
