Are Nigerian Christian Universities For Children Of The Elites?

Our religious leaders have certainly established the fact that education is a solid building block for a stable and successful future in a child’s life; they have gone as far as building Universities to physically state their point.

We applaud the congregation of these churches who offered their tithes, donations and weekly offering to see this vision come to light; in turn expecting that their widows might pay off when their children can acquire a decent education through these schools. Not an unreasonable assumption I must add.

On the bright side, these universities have long been completed unlike most projects in Nigeria, the downside is you need to have bagged some cash to afford sending one child let alone two to the now termed ‘Nigerian Elite Universities‘. Here are a list of these universities and an approximate fee that you need to pay to attend.

1. BOWEN University owned and operated by a Baptist Convention, charges ₦650,000 as tuition fees per session.

2. COVENANT University established by Bishop Oyedepo of Winners Chapel ₦640,000 as tuition fees per session.

3. BENSON IDAHOSA University charges ₦500,000 as tuition fees per session.

4. BABCOCK University established by The Seventh Day Adventist, charges ₦450,000 as tuition fees per session.

5. REDEEMERS University owned by The Redeemed Christian Church of God , charges ₦450,000 as tuition fees per session.

6. AJAYI CROWTHER University established by The Supra diocesan board of the church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), charges ₦350,000per session.



7. MADONNA University a Catholic University charges ₦350,000 as tuition fees per session.

All of these universities were built from tithes and offerings of the people who now cannot afford to send their children there to study. Where has the moral of the church gone?

These schools were all built by the efforts of their congregations who kept sowing seeds; special offering seeds, first fruit seed, redemption seed, thanksgiving seed, harvest seed, tithes, pastor’s birthday seed, church building seed, evangelism seed, father’s day seed, mother’s day seed, children’s day seed, pastor’s cake seed, olive oil seed, insecticide seed, indomie seed, ground nut seed, miscellaneous seed, etc seed. These schools are now elite schools, only for the children of the rich. The gainers then use the proceeds to buy private planes and jets to fly up high in luxury while their members sleep hungry and next Sunday, they will read and preach Malachi 3:6-12.

for ur information mr poster, i think u have to get ur facts right. first of all, i am a student of covenant university and the school fees is not even up to the outrageous money u put there and the school wasnt built with church money, d chancellor used his personal money for the university...

REASONS FOR THAT

Fellows, we should call a spade a spade and tell our selfs the truth, we are know that this varsities were build from church money tithes and offering of their followers. but is very bad to hear those outrageous amount of money collected as fee by this school, well i must say that this group of people are scammers are looters that extol from their followers in the name of God, they wont say they dont know the meaning of missionary, or how is been run, because most of them attended it, come to the western world, missionary school are the cheapest collages here,  why because (1) those who attend want to learn more about the gospel and this is the pride of every good christian church, getting people to learn about the gospel, (2) Such schools are mend for the poor and less privilege in the society.
this so called versities are not suppose to be any were above 50 - 70k, Our pastors need to go out, come to U.S, Europe and Asia to see what is called missionary, when missionaries came into africa, they came with foods, clothes,schools, clinics and so on, all for free. but our so called pastors will cant give u a daim, but their hands are always open to collect from u

why do people allways get emotional with the obvious truth? weather its true that convenant university pays 640 or 511 or 350, it is still too high!!!...schools built by churches should be cheeper than government schools. but NO, its all about the MONEY! MONEY MONEY!!!!.... when ur church name or the name of your pastor iis pronounced in what is obviously wrong you all begin to reign curses and get angry over sentimental attachements!!! these days u cant even differenciate between  the government and the church again. too bad!!!

HOW MANY POOR NIGERIANS CAN AFFORD TO PAY 511K/SESSION JUST 4 A CHILD BESIDES BOOKS AND FEEDING ALLOWANCES? YOU PEOPLE PICK OFFENCES AT THE MENTION OF UR CHURCHES OR PASTORS. LISTEN. FOR THE FACT THAT THEY ARE PASTORS DOES NOT MAKE THEM PERFECT. ACCEPT IT OR NOT, THEY ARE NOT SERVING THE INTEREST OF GOD IF THEIR SCHOOLS TUITION FEES ARE WAY BEYOND THE REACH OF THE POOR.
