Why Vision Fails – Comr. Abraham Idiong



What is Vision?

Vision is simply a mental picture of your desired future. It can also be defined as a pathway to follow, so as to arrive at a desired destination.



Every man was born to fulfill a vision. But until you discover yours, life will be full of frustration.



“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” – Proverbs 29 : 18



Without vision, people lack direction. Life without vision is life that lacks honour and dignity.



The truth is that some don’t understand the principles that account for successful vision and failed ones. Below are ten things that lack in a failed activation of visions:



1. Lack of Understanding:

It is not what we don’t have that limits us, but what we have, but lack understanding of it.



2. Lack of Preparation:

Many people fail to build capacity to run their visions. If you’re not informed, you’ll be deformed. Old Testament Prophet: Hosea cried out in Hosea 4 : 6.

It is said that anything worth doing is worth doing well.



3. Fear:

A fearful man cannot run a successful vision because fear makes them think that they are good for nothing. Fear kills initiatives.



4. Wrong Association:

People who are not going anyway wouldn’t want to allow you leave them and run your race (vision). “Not everyone you meet at airport are travelling; some are there for sight – seeing, some are escorts.” The easiest way to miss your flight (vision) is to sit with those who are not travelling (not running their races). The Bible says “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed” – Proverbs 13 : 20



5. Pride:

GOD HISMSELF opposes the proud. “But He giveth more grace. Wherefore He saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” – James 4 : 6.

Pride makes people not to run their race (vision), because “pride comes before a fall”. Proud people can’t start small. They watch their vision like television. Yes, it is on television that you watch people drinking tea, but you can’t join them to drink tea. Proud people will always want to bypass PROCESSES.



6. Distraction:

It is either you’re focused or you’re locus. Distractive people are like butterflies; they hop from one flower to another. They want to attempt everything that comes their ways, but ends up achieving nothing.



7. Lack of Discipline:

Discipline is the ability to say no. Ability to avoid instant gratification. Discipline will make you do what is required, not what is convenient. Disciplined people set boundaries to stand out.



8. Procrastinations:

Procrastination has turned to full time jobs to some people. Because of that, they cannot succeed. This makes people to build monuments of emptiness. In television, as mentioned above, you can watch food advertisements, but you don’t get opportunity to join and eat, even if you’re hungry. Actions bring results.



9. Lack of Commitment:

What you are not committed to, cannot succeed.



10. Lack of Mentorship:

There is no champion without at least, a Mentor. You need to be trained by someone. A Mentor is like a ladder. You stand on the shoulder of a Mentor to climb higher. It takes instruction to fly. To fly in life, you need an instruction from an Instructor. Whatever you try today has already been succeeded by another person. Hence, make that person your Mentor to learn from him / her.



Understand that there is no failed vision, but failed activation of visions by the man that the vision was meant for.
