There is no greater happiness for a man than approaching a door at the end of a day knowing someone on the other side of that door is waiting for the sound of his footsteps. But in this instance the reverse is the case. This melodrama tries to imply that divorce is not such a tragedy. A tragedy is staying in an unhappy marriage, and living in acerbity and frustration in the name of marriage. Nobody ever died of divorce.
