Backed by popular demand, we have decided to bring back our highly rated and sort after Retro Sounds Series and in today’s segment, we will revisit a well sampled and interpolated Nigerian hit from the early 90’s that was performed by Nigerian pop veteran Alex Zitto.
He was born half Nigerian half Ghanaian. He started out his music career in the early 80s as a bass guitarist in Ebenezer Obey’s Miliki Band.
Alex Zitto gained prominence when he won The Lekki Song Context in 1988, with his song ‘Tickle Me’. He then got signed to PolyGram Records.
He released ‘Walakolombo‘ in 1991. The song was a big hit, a national anthem and still a crowd favourite till date.
Walakolombo’ is a fusion of Reggae and RnB. It tells a story of a Alex Zitto getting played and fooled by his lover.
