Am an Artiste. My stage name is KT - XS. The origin of my stage name is long O! Pls, read along patiently . The name came up in a funny way. I got the name from my colleagues. I'm a kind of person who likes advising people around me to live modestly. It unsettles me when i see youths taking unnecessary risks. Basically, i advise my friends against excessive ways of doing things; excess smoking, promiscuity, speed while driving, drinking, exuberance, etc. I advise my colleagues to do things moderately and sometimes i get on their nerves. There was one particular day when we were driving down from school ( Olabisi Onabanjo university, Ago - Iwoye, Ogun state ) to my Lekki residence in a convoy of 5 cars and i stopped the convoy on Lekki - Epe expressway, Lagos. I told my friends i am no longer riding in the car i was ( Range Rover sport ) because my friend was speeding excessively. They yabbed me and they were like " what is your problem about excess this, excess that ... "Na wa O ... You too dey complain excessively... You no get small liver sef. Na excess speed you dey complain of now. Na inside Range Rover sport we dey, ABS dey, even Airbag plenty " " Yen! Yen!! Yen!!! Na so you go dey complain excessively. Ooo ga oooo Mr. Excess " . Since that incident, they began calling me Excess ( XS ) to the usual KT (that's Kotun) which they call me. Since then i adopted KT - XS, which i have taken into the music industry as my stage name. I have been into entertainment for a while. But i started music professionally in 2007. KT - XS is a Fuji / hip hop artiste. I do traditional Fuji music spiced with a touch of contemporary hip hop. However,because of the rave of hip hop, KT - XS is spicing both forms of music together to blend the traditional fuji music deep down into modern hip hop to create Fuji/Hip hop genre of music. Basically, i do my music in Yoruba language, which is my mother tongue. Secondly, traditional Fuji has its origins from Yoruba land. Versatility is one of my keywords; i can still write and deliver songs in English, Pid-gin, etc I am a native of Lagos state, Isale - Eko to be precise. ( Original Omo Eko ) Envy me now, E no easy to be a Lagosian. Eko Oni Ba Je OOO. My Album ! My Album !! My Album !!! For now, i have a single on air in Lagos, Which is titled " Ma Lo Tee ". The track talks about some Moguls that are naturally modest. I think they should be given their respect, just because they choose to live a modest life doesn't mean they should be disrespected. The track is doing very good,i have received lots of feedback from music lovers. They like the concept and the creativity especially the fusion of Fuji, Ragga & Rap in the song. My album will contain 14 tracks which will turn out to be the rave of the industry... Earth shakers. Interestingly,most of my fans call me Lyricist. They appreciate my lyrics which goes a long way to teach morals & equally entertains. Still on my album,i have concluded my writing and am still working on the recording, you know say E no easy to compile and put good music on a CD. Am trying hard to gather the best hands to my production. Also am networking marketers,experienced manager,relevant stakeholders,etc. Hopefully, the album should feature the likes of Pasuma, D banj, 9ice, etc. Talking about Pasuma,i respect him alot. Wasiu Alabi Pasuma is someone who fuels me a lot. I admire his energy,charisma and creativity especially the way he injects modern concepts into traditional Fuji. I have a good relationship with him and he has been supportive. He is my role model. KT - XS is very optimistic about where he will be in the next few years. I have a dream to someday take Fuji/hip hop genre of music beyond the shores of Nigeria and bag the biggest award in the world for my type of music. ( E fit be Grammy Award O ! ) But right now,i have written my 14 tracks album, which needs to be carefully produced & marketed. I am focused & working hard to make my music career a success. I am networking links globally to take me close to music lovers all over the world who will benefit from the morals & entertainment i have to offer in my song. As an up-and-coming artiste, i want to appeal to music lovers to hear me out and encourage the esteemed level of creativity in me. KT - XS will surely excite you with sensational rhythms and at the same time remind us of the beautiful past we can be proud of as Africans in this contemporary age. Thanks for reading about me.
