JOAN PAUL
JOAN PAUL from Trinidad and Tobago , the 3rd child of her mother,was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on Christmas day the 25th of December 1979, to Capt. Neville Paul and Felicia Bassey. she had her primary and secondary education in Warri, Delta State and graduated from the department of International Studies and Diplomacy, Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, Edo State in March, 2005.
Her musical journey started from Word of Life Bible Church, Warri at age 7, doing solos and performances with her children’s choir and a dance group. As she grew, she had the opportunity to perform along side artistes such as Margaret Ingram, Broda Martins, Dc Envoys etc. Music flows in her lineage hence, she had great encouragement from her uncles who were already into professional music at that time; they were known as 'Glad Tidings' under the management of Patrick Doyle. Her inspirations were drawn from icons like Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, Shirley Ceasar, Mariah Carey, Tevin Campbell, Yolanda Adams, Cece Winans etc. It was no surprise that in 1988 she led the music club of her primary school ( N.N.P.C. Staff School , Warri), to do a recording with the then Bendel Broadcasting Service (BBS),Benin-City.
A break came for her when a concert was organized in 2002 at Urohobo College Main Hall in Warri called 'CITY IN PRAISE' where she performed with the likes of Kingsley Ike, Samsong, Mike Aremu, Min. Osene Ighodaro, D.C.Envoys, Rexa and the Spirit of David,Osuofia (Ukwa) amongst other etc. Her debut album (MY LUV, MY LIFE) was released on the stables of “Kbk Records” a subsidiary of Arkmuzik Int’l with hits like “Hold on”, “Best Friend”, “Till the End”,Jiro.The Album has got other tracks like, “Jiro remix featuring Liora and Annivon ”, Heavens Champion, "Alade Ogo" and lots more produced by Noah 'kbkjnr' Momodu. After winning the award for BEST GOSPEL FEMALE at the south south music award (SSMA 2011) with her first official single -“Ikhayere (Grateful)" featuring Meeme Excel - Joan Paul has been nominated for the NGMAwards (2012) for BEST REGGAE and the CRYSTAL AWARDS (2013) for BEST REGGAE and many more... As a very vibrant soloist, she has served as praise team director, Head of the choir (The Inspirational Choir) and MD of the women's choir in the church with her husband who is also the Music Director of the same choir; (Miracle Assembly, Benin-City, Edo State.). Her involvements in recordings and multimedia/event projects are numerous and have all being a great success; some of her productions are –Rhoda King, Reda & Ella, I joy, producer/host of PRO-CLAIM TV SHOW. She has featured in recordings and stage performances with artistes such as Gloria Noren, Lynns Tokee-Opitokee, Best Paul, Bossman, Samsong, Liora, Asu Ekiye, Cobhams Asuquo, Sammie Okposo , D.C. Envoys, Buchi, Min. Osene Ighodaro, Kunle Ajayi, Rev. Victor Atenaga, Ik Louis,Kingsley Ike, Jodie, godwin idios, Kefee, Panam Percy Paul,Midnight Crew, BNG, Obiwon,Kayode Olusoji,Victor Olayeni, Modele, Rexa, Mcfoy, Annivon, The Noble Voices (CGMi Abuja)Rainbow Praise Choir and lots more.
Joan recently started an N.G.O. for pregnant women and babies called PROJECT 3:16 (NIGERIA ), as instructed by the Lord as a result of a beautiful experience she had in 2008. JP as fans popularly call her says that, she owes it all to God and her late aunt – Deaconess Stella-Ann Oritsejafor whom God used to mold her for his kingdom work. JOAN PAUL-MOMODU is married to her Producer/Manager- Noah ‘KBK Jnr’ Momodu with a lovely son- NEL'kbk III' Momodu and they reside in Benin-City, Edo State, where they are both directors of a Multimedia Entertainment Company called ARKMUZIK INT’L with subsidiaries like the prestigious Proclaim Media Network (Pro-claim tv) and other brands.
