5 months ago, I met a nice guy. The fact that he's cute, educated and financially stable made me wonder why he is single at 36. Before I commit myself to the relationship, I requested we go for HIV test. (This is a MUST in all my relationships) This guy got really offended and decided not to have anything to do with me. I was totally fine with it and moved on. My close friend thought I was silly not dating the guy. He asked me if it was ok for her to go ahead with the guy. I agreed and gave her his num. Strangely, the guy began dating my friend and the relationship seem perfect. Infact I became jealous but I kept it to myself. Yesterday, my friend rang me requesting to see me urgently. I quickly rushed down to her house and met her in a pool of tears. She told me she's been sick for a while, she went to the hospital only to find out she's HIV positive. When she confronted the guy, he simply told her he's had the disease for over 5yrs & he has to carry on with life as normal. Please I'm writing this to encourage everyone to ensure u and ur spouse get tested before or during ur relationship to avoid or protect yourself. It doesn't matter how healthy he/she appear. If u see the guy and my friend, u will swear that they are HIV free. Pls get tested, avoid unprotected sex and for those wey fit hold body, abeg hold body very well. Remember everyone has a past. Don't be too sure. As for my frnd, well it' s not the end of the world. It's simply the begining of a new world. And I'll always be there to support her.
