I am done with visiting Nigeria just because of the type of abuse and cold shoulders I get whenever I go there. First of all I was born and raised in the U.S to a Nigerian father and an Indian mother. Since I wanted to know more about my other culture I go visit with my father whenever he goes back, but each time we go mostly the girls there talk badly about me saying I pretend to hide my accent just because i want to be different from them and that I know I have a Nigerian accent. How can I hide an accent I never had? I was born and raised in America and just travels to Nigeria with my dad sometimes. These people are always talking badly about me and I end up being the outcast of the group and spend the rest of my time around his family and can't wait to come back here. I don't act somehow in fact am always quiet most of the time because I really don't know much about the culture so am careful about everything. But when am asked a question and I speak, they all start to harass me and am done going back for that.
