In a series of devastating road accidents, three individuals tragically lost their lives while 21 others sustained varying degrees of injuries across different locations in Ogun State. The incidents, confirmed by Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), cast a somber shadow over the region.

Akinbiyi disclosed to journalists in Abeokuta on Sunday that the accidents occurred at three separate locations: the Iju bridge in Atan, the Owode Idiroko Expressway, and Ayedade village in Obada along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Saturday.

Detailing the grim aftermath, Akinbiyi revealed that five vehicles were involved in the collisions, including a Mazda bus bearing registration number AAA729YC, a Toyota Hiace bus registered as LND85YA, a Sino truck with no visible registration, a Bajaj tricycle marked TTN58ND, and a Volkswagen bus (White) registered as APP 77 YD.

Tragically, the bodies of the deceased have been transported to the State Hospital Mortuary in Ota and the Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Aro Abeokuta, underscoring the devastating toll of the accidents.

Akinbiyi further informed that the vehicles implicated in the crashes have been towed to the Atan Divisional Police Station for thorough investigation, as authorities seek to unravel the circumstances leading to the tragic incidents.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of the accidents, the incidents serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures and vigilant enforcement to prevent further loss of life on Ogun State's highways.
