The Lagos State Police Command has dismantled a notorious gang of suspected ritualists, accused of perpetrating heinous acts including murder and trafficking of human body parts across various states.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command's Public Relations Officer, confirmed the apprehension of the suspects on Friday. Among those arrested were a woman identified as an Osun priestess, a local chief, an Ifa priest, an Islamic cleric, and a trado-medical practitioner.

According to Hundeyin, the arrests came as a result of actionable intelligence provided by vigilant members of the public. The ringleader, identified as 33-year-old Ademola Akinlosotu, confessed to initially engaging in exhumation of corpses from cemeteries for sale to ritualists. However, he later escalated to the gruesome practice of killing individuals and selling their body parts on demand.

In a chilling revelation, Akinlosotu disclosed that his clients preferred fresh human parts over corpses, prompting the gang to resort to murder. He confessed to supplying the harvested parts to a 52-year-old man known as Ahmed Wahab, alias Alfa Bororo, who operated in Badagry, Lagos State, and Ogun State.

Detailing the macabre pricing of human body parts, Akinlosotu revealed that a fresh human head fetched between N45,000 and N50,000, while dried heads sold for N30,000 to N35,000. Other body parts, such as the heart and hands, commanded similarly grotesque prices.

In a shocking admission, Akinlosotu confessed to his involvement in the murder of two individuals, including a friend he met through social media. He claimed that consultations with a herbalist were sought prior to each killing, to determine success and avert potential consequences.

The suspect further alleged complicity of a traditional ruler in Badagry, who purportedly commissioned him to eliminate his own son. Akinlosotu recounted how his friend, visiting him on the fateful day of the planned killing, fell victim to their grisly operation.

Meanwhile, Hundeyin disclosed that assorted human body parts were recovered from the suspects, with investigations ongoing to apprehend other accomplices.

As the police continue their relentless pursuit of justice, the suspects will face prosecution once investigations are concluded, signaling a resolute stance against such abhorrent criminal activities.
