Music executive Paul Okoye, known as Paul O, is raising concerns about the Afrobeats genre in 2024. In a recent Instagram story, Okoye suggests the year may be challenging for many Afrobeats singers, with only Burna Boy and Davido managing to secure a significant number of shows.

Okoye, who is also a show promoter, points towards potentially inflated ticket prices as a contributing factor to struggling sales for other artists. He urges them to consider a price reduction, referencing the decline of Reggae music as a cautionary tale.

“2024 will be a tough year for Afrobeats!!! Apart from 2 artists this year, Burnaboy and Davido, they did a few shows,” Okoye wrote. “Others are in trouble, either they are overpriced or tickets are not selling. Hmmm, Let us not do what happened to Reggae musicians. Reduce Your Prices. Just think, how many shows you did this year?”
