State/Country Of Origin: Where you grew up or where your parents were born?

There has been this confusion as to where to claim as your origin, it so happens that sometimes your parents are from a certain state and you were born in another state; in such case people are bent on you claiming the start where your parents come from.

Is this really right? shouldn't your origin be where you were born and grew up rather than where your parents were born???

What is your take on this issue?

origin is simply where u originated/came from, not where u were born.
As for me i was born in equatorial Guinea,raised in Nigeria,now in South africa.

I uses both where I was born and my parents'
state of origin as the case may be.

where  u are born u can be a citizen of that place but where ur parents are from is where u originated from
