Tragedy struck in Maitama, Abuja, on Friday night as unidentified gunmen ambushed and fatally shot a middle-aged man identified as Khalid Bichi, leaving residents shocked and grieving over the senseless act of violence.
According to reports by Daily Post, Bichi, an employee of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), fell victim to the assailants' attack just before 9 p.m. while he was out to purchase food. The gunmen, whose identities remain unknown, mercilessly shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene, leaving Bichi critically wounded.
Despite efforts to save his life, Bichi succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at Maitama General Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead, further deepening the tragedy of the incident.
Sources close to the deceased revealed that Bichi was an active social media user, known by the username @Khalid Bichi, and had established connections with influential politicians, raising questions about the possible motives behind the targeted attack.
As the community reels from the loss of a cherished member, preparations are underway for Bichi's final rites. A funeral prayer is scheduled to take place at Abuja National Mosque today, Saturday, at 1:30 p.m., followed by his interment, providing an opportunity for loved ones to bid a solemn farewell to the departed soul.
