Renowned Nollywood actress Dorcas Fapson, popularly known as Ms DSF, has shared a poignant anecdote about facing rejection in a romantic relationship after revealing that she lost her mother at a young age.

During a recent episode of the podcast "Bants and Bouje," featuring hosts Moet Abebe and Tolanibaj, Fapson recounted the unsettling encounter with a man who expressed reluctance to date her upon learning about her upbringing.

According to Fapson, the man bluntly informed her that he could not pursue a relationship with someone who had not grown up in a "two-parent household." Reflecting on the encounter, Fapson expressed bewilderment at the notion that her familial circumstances were grounds for romantic disqualification.

"The most craziest thing that someone has ever said to me was when I told a guy that I lost my mum as a child and he said he could never date me," Fapson recounted. "He said that he can’t date someone who wasn’t raised in a two-parent household. And I get that but could I have prevented my mum from dying? Is that my fault?"

Fapson's revelation struck a chord with co-host Moet Abebe, who shared a similar experience of rejection based on familial background. "I can relate because someone has also told me that before," Abebe revealed. "The reason was because he was also raised by a single parent. So, according to him, he didn’t want a child from someone with a similar upbringing. That was his excuse but I didn’t think it’s a reasonable excuse."

The candid discussion sheds light on the complexities of dating dynamics and the impact of personal biases and societal expectations on romantic relationships. Fapson's experience serves as a reminder of the importance of empathy and understanding in navigating sensitive topics such as family history in the realm of dating and relationships.
