I was the no 1 critic of the documentary, but i was speaking with my bro who live in london and he told me to watch the video,, i first object dat all the opinion in naijapal are negative, and he said NO some ppl just watch movie, while some ppl try to understand the movie. I had to start downloading it cos i stay in canada and can't watch it on bbc iplayer. now i try not to watch but to understand why wat the message is all about.
1. DETERMINATION: the scavenger who is determine to be a musician
2. HONEST LIVING: a family man with two kids who didnt go robbery cos his mom left him and he comes from a polygamous family
3. GOOD GOVERNANCE: dumb area boss careful handing of the thief case and settling the scavenger court case
4. UNISON: all fighting to put off the fire at the dumb site
5. HARDWORK: the graduate in agric science who sells cow blood to make a living instead of waiting for white collar job.
6. CONTENDED: most of this guys earn less than $5 even after the hardwork but they are not a THIEF.
So, the notion that BBC is depicting lagos is a dumb is pure trash, simply bcos we cant accept the fact that most nigerian aren't living the best of life, doesn't mean we are living the best of life. afterall, olososun dump site is a real place in lagos and people work there to earn a living, just try to go there and study this ppl life style for one week.
Incase, you want to watch the video again pls try to be quiet and listen CAREFULLY to the interpreter. THANKS.

NB: i can upload the video for you guys to download if you need it is about 497mb just mail or reply me.

BBC! Do people who are living in dumps looked like these in the picture. For years BBC, CNN and private individual etc comes to the continent of Africa and make lies film. Most of the assault was South Africa don't believe that now that things are not so correct in Nigeria it is going to be exempt. And you know that the love of money is the root of all evil so these Nigerians will sell out their country for money. Let us pray that persons will not have the wrong perceptions about Nigeria and Nigerians again. Then again we cannot stop persons from having their opinions. The High Commission of Nigeria need to start working on promoting Nigeria in a Positive way.

Is it true or not? I lived in LAG for 21yrs before I waka, there is no different to what bbc showed. I myself I went to dumps during my early years to look for aluminium, brass and slippers to sell.

Truth be told, YES these things exist here in Nigeria nobody need to fake or act it out for us to know.I can tell you the pictures I see are actual pictures taken live, BUT where I have problems is that BBC forgets that worst things happen within their own environment even in their back yards. Why is it that they didnt compare the pix here with the ones in their country.
The world over have its dumps and ghettos, and that does not make the Africa continent any different. However anchored this story primarily was looking for a ban news to say to the world about Nigeria, why didnt he take pix in Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lekki, Abuja (Maitama and the Asokoro), why didnt he go to Calabar, Abeokuta or least still Festac or Badagary. Let them comapny these pix with the life in Blackpool, or even still Porthsmouth and lets see which is better.
These countries always want to feel they are better off than the Africa nations because our goverment(s) made it so and we as Nigerias who want to travel abroad for the so called greener pastures and end up in precarious situations and still refuse to come home, dont forget and I mean it with every breathe in me we (Africa people) are far better than they think because we are ressilient and rugged in what we do, we dont fall to drugs or other vices easily because situations are bad instead we stand and fight to make things better in our personal lives without government allowances, good amenties, fairness from any quarters and the day to day hardship our system throw our way.
I wish I can on and on but no matter what they write about us or filmed about our nation Africa it was we call ourselves that we are, a nation so disjointed and not organized with our leaders exporting our Mother earth hard given resources to the Western world but still we survive and hope for a better Nation someday. Long live Africa, Long live The Federal Republic of Nigeria.

this is ridiculous, how can bbc show only the bad things and not the good. I don't think anyone lives in a dumb. I am not a nigerian but an African and I've never seen or heard such thing. I always watch nigerian movies and I see what Lagos is like not those pictures I seen.  Even the village is better than what bbc showed us. This is so embarrassing to not only nigerians but Africa in General.  I think the nigerian authorities should wake up and do something about it.

there are places like this in every mega city of the world..you and i know that this is not the true representation of our city..why did BBC not do a documentry on other aspect of life in lagos i.e. the entraprenural instincts of lagosians..are they blind to the massive infrastrutural development going on in the city..

@Kemp I never been to Nigeria and am not disputing that persons doesn't live in dumps. What am saying is that BBC etc always take the bad and highlighted it. They done the same here in Jamaica as well. Is it that there isn't nothing good going on in Nigeria that they cannot have a mixture on the tape. Why always highlighting the bad. For months Nigeria as been in the spotlight with Negative news why highlighting more. I will not encourage bad advertisement Kemp whether I was there before yes are no.

Things will definitely get better.
I see men and women working hard for their families.
Men and women with skills on how to recycle without a "formal" training on how to do so. Europe should be ashamed.
Men and women with very good and sound spoken English. I see businessmen. Entrepreneurs. Optimists.
I see a bright future.
Things will definitely get better.

As for BBC, seriously, who cares what they think or do? They are out of ideas but they need to feed too.
So, well, all they have to do is...run to Lagos, Nigeria. Shameful.
