The identity of the man tragically killed in Sunderland has been confirmed as Allen Adeyemi Tejan, aged 40, following a serious assault on Lily Street in Millfield. Authorities discovered Allen with severe head injuries on Wednesday morning, prompting a swift murder investigation.

The incident, which occurred around 8:40 am on April 24th, led to Allen being rushed to the hospital with injuries consistent with a blunt force assault. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries early Thursday morning.

In connection with the assault, Adrian Wright, 53, was arrested and subsequently charged with Allen's murder. Wright, whose address is listed as no fixed abode, is set to appear in court today in South Tyneside.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Steel, leading the investigation, expressed the immense difficulty faced by Allen's family in the wake of the tragedy. He assured ongoing support for the family and praised the investigative team for their relentless efforts in piecing together the circumstances surrounding Allen's death.

As the community reels from this shocking event, authorities continue to urge anyone with information relevant to the case to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
