Edo Police Apprehend Suspected Cultists Accused Of Killing Man In Daughter’s Presence In Auchi

The Edo State Police Command has made significant strides in combating cult-related violence with the apprehension of individuals believed to be members of the Eiye cult group. They are accused of the murder of Emmanuel Odiase in Auchi, Edo State, last Monday.

The victim, Odiase, tragically lost his life in the presence of his daughter during the attack.

The swift response of police operatives and members of the vigilante group led to the arrest of the assailants after a hot pursuit.

In a statement shared on its official handle on Sunday, the Edo State Police Command provided details of the incident, stating, "In another development, on 22/04/2024 another attack was carried out where one Emmanuel Odiase, a member of Black Axe was killed in Auchi by members of the Eiye cult group."

The statement continued, "Subsequently, on 23/04/2024 one Braimoh Fulani, a 43-year-old, was killed in his provision shop at the campus area in Auchi by members of the Aye cult group who came to his shop with an unregistered Lexus 350 saloon car, golden color."

"With the timely information from members of the public, police operatives mobilised and gave them hot chase in collaboration with the vigilante group where they were arrested and their weapons recovered."


Additionally, the command reported another significant arrest, stating, "In another development, the command said its operatives from the South-Ibie Division and the Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit arrested seven cultists of the Black Axe group from the scene of the violent attack between Aye and Eiye secret cult groups last Thursday."

The incident resulted in the tragic death of one Umoru, who was shot dead by members of the Aye Cult group.

These arrests underscore the commitment of the Edo State Police Command to curbing cult-related violence and ensuring the safety and security of residents in the state.
