In a remarkable turn of events, hunters in the Ashav Kusuv community of Buruku Local Government Area, Benue State, stumbled upon a newborn baby reportedly buried alive in a forest, igniting both shock and disbelief among local residents.

According to Terna, a resident of the locality, the hunters made the astonishing discovery on Saturday while scouring the forest. They found the infant girl buried beneath the earth and immediately brought her to safety, alive and unharmed.

"The hunters found a baby girl buried alive in the forest. The baby is currently receiving care in Ashav Kusuv community," Terna revealed, reflecting the astonishment and relief felt by the community in the wake of the miraculous rescue.

Chairman of the local government, Iorkyaan Agber, confirmed the incident, emphasizing the urgent need to investigate the circumstances surrounding the infant's abandonment in the forest. "Some hunters indeed found a baby in the forest, but we are investigating to ascertain who abandoned the baby and the motive behind such a heinous act," Agber stated.

As authorities mobilize to unravel the mystery behind the infant's ordeal, questions linger about the identity of the person or persons responsible for such a callous act of abandonment. The community remains on edge, grappling with the chilling realization that a defenseless newborn was left to perish in the wilderness.

Efforts to obtain a response from the Benue Police Spokesperson, Catherine Anene, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting, underscoring the urgency and gravity of the situation as investigations unfold.
