The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued its latest weather forecast, predicting a mix of thunderstorms and sunshine across the country from Sunday to Tuesday.

According to the NiMet weather outlook released in Abuja, sunny skies are expected on Sunday, with patches of cloud over most parts of the northern region during the morning hours. Isolated thunderstorms are forecasted for parts of Kaduna and Taraba, with hazy conditions over portions of Yobe and Borno States later in the day.

In the North Central region, cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are anticipated during the morning, followed by isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon/evening over certain states including the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, Kwara, and Kogi.

Moving southward, the coastal areas are expected to experience predominantly cloudy conditions, with chances of thunderstorms over parts of Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers States in the morning. Later in the day, widespread thunderstorms are anticipated over most coastal areas.

On Monday, the northern region is forecasted to have sunny intervals with few cloud patches in the morning, followed by isolated thunderstorms over parts of Kaduna and Taraba in the afternoon. The North Central region is expected to experience cloudy conditions with intervals of sunshine in the morning, transitioning to isolated thunderstorms later in the day.

In the southern region, morning thunderstorms are expected over certain states, with isolated thunderstorms anticipated later in the day over inland and coastal areas.

The weather outlook for Tuesday indicates a continuation of sunny conditions with patches of cloud in the northern region, while isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of Kaduna, Adamawa, Taraba, and Bauchi states later in the day. The North Central region should see cloudy conditions in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms later on.

In the southern region, a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is expected in the morning, followed by isolated thunderstorms in various states later in the day.

NiMet advises the public to take precautions, particularly in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur, as strong winds may precede the rains. Additionally, airline operators are urged to obtain updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
