The Benue State House of Assembly yesterday asked Joseph Har, the Security Adviser to Governor Hyacinth Alia, to investigate alleged threats to the life of a member of the Assembly Jonathan Agbidyeh. Agbidyeh is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC, and represents Katsina Ala East constituency.

The decision of the House followed a motion of urgent public importance moved by Agbidyeh during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Aondona Dajoh alleging that the Caretaker Chairman of his local government area (Katsina-Ala), Justin Shaku, had conspired with one Mike Tughga, the Commander of the Benue State Volunteer Guards in Katsina-Ala, and another member of the guards, Jethro Tor-Tsaper, to allegedly frame him up to kill him.

Agbidyeh said he had received several phone calls from his constituents that the council boss had reportedly held several meetings with the Volunteer Guards to kill him. He pleaded with his colleagues to save his life.
