Borno State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two persons in a bomb blast on Friday night in Ruwan Zafi, Maiduguri, the state capital. The state police public relations officer, PPRO, Malam Lawal Abdullah, who confirmed the deaths, Saturday, said that the bomb was planted on the roadside by unknown persons. “The bomb was believed to have been planted at a roadside by some unknown persons at Ruwan Zafi, near a police check-point,’’ Abdullahi said. He said the bomb exploded around 8.30 p.m. after one of the victims had unknowingly stepped on it on his way home. Abdullahi said that the police had begun investigations into the issue and appealed for calm. “I wish to renew our call for members of the public to help by volunteering information that could lead to the arrest of criminals in the state,’’ he said.
