There's been some contention surrounding the Central Bank of Nigeria's directive regarding the  0.5% cybersecurity levy on electronic transactions within the country.

The House of Representatives has taken action to address concerns raised by Kingsley Chinda, who represents the Obio/Akpor Constituency, by calling for the withdrawal of the circular. It appears there were discrepancies between the CBN directive and the specifications outlined in the Cybersecurity Act, leading to confusion and multiple interpretations.

By urging the CBN to withdraw the circular and issue a clearer directive, the House aims to ensure alignment between the regulatory measures and existing legislation.

This move reflects a commitment to fostering clarity and consistency in cybersecurity regulations governing electronic transactions within Nigeria.
