In a bid to seek justice and recoup losses, a Nigerian man has announced a $2000 reward for information leading to the arrest of an individual accused of defrauding him and his associates of over N42 million (approximately $30,000 USD).
Making the announcement on X.com, the victim issued a public plea for assistance in apprehending the suspect, whom he alleges engaged in deceitful practices to swindle him and his friends.
Addressing the public, the victim recounted the series of events that led to the alleged fraud, detailing how the suspect, under the guise of financial distress and false pretenses, manipulated them into extending financial assistance.
According to the victim, the suspect, who claimed to be facing financial difficulties with the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS), solicited monetary aid, citing various fabricated reasons, including a dying nephew and personal financial woes.
The victim revealed that his encounter with the suspect began on a gaming platform, Fortnite, in 2023, where they formed a connection based on shared interests and the suspect's purported profession as a skilled 3D and Motion Artist.
Despite initial trust and camaraderie, the victim described how the suspect gradually integrated himself into their lives, eventually moving into their apartment in early February under false pretenses.
Detailing the elaborate web of deceit spun by the suspect, the victim highlighted instances where they were coerced into providing financial assistance, including financing a computer rental and contributing towards medical expenses for the suspect's alleged nephew.
Furthermore, the victim shared screenshots of transactions made to the suspect's account, urging the public to scrutinize the evidence for any leads that could aid in the apprehension of the alleged fraudster.
As the investigation unfolds, the victim remains determined to seek justice and prevent others from falling victim to similar schemes, emphasizing the importance of holding perpetrators of fraud accountable for their actions.
