The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully intercepted two parcels containing cocaine and amphetamine concealed in unexpected items: steel bolts and shea butter.

According to a statement released by NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the agency's officers from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigations (DOGI) seized the contraband at a courier firm in Lagos on Wednesday, May 15.

Babafemi revealed that the intercepted cocaine, weighing 587 grams, was concealed within eight steel bolt screws intended for shipment to China. Additionally, a consignment of amphetamine, disguised in vape pens and concealed within shea butter, was destined for the United Kingdom.

This seizure underscores NDLEA's continued efforts to combat drug trafficking and prevent illegal substances from leaving the country. The agency remains vigilant in identifying and intercepting innovative methods used by drug traffickers to smuggle narcotics across international borders.

The NDLEA continues to urge heightened vigilance among the public and cooperation with law enforcement agencies to combat the illicit drug trade and safeguard communities from the harmful effects of drug abuse.
