The Department of State Security (DSS), Ogun State Command has arrested a traditional ruler in Osun State, the Ologudu of Ogudu in Ife East Local Government Area, Oba Jimoh Ajayi Abiodun, for alleged terrorism and extortion of farmers within the Area J4 of Omo Forest Reserve in Ogun State.
The Ogun State Commissioner for Forestry, Oludotun Taiwo, confirmed the arrest to our correspondent in Abeokuta yesterday. A source in the State Command of DSS had earlier told our correspondent that Oba Abiodun was arrested following a petition by the Ogun State Ministry of Forestry.
According to the source, the Ministry accused the monarch and others of terrorising and extorting money from cocoa farmers operating inside the forest reserve which traverses Ijebu North and Ijebu East Local Government Areas of Ogun State.
The source further disclosed that the Monarch and one, Bunmi Goroye, were arrested by the combined team of operatives from the national headquarters of the DSS and the State command on Sunday, May 5, at the Ologudu’s palace in Ogudu town, Osun State
